Repeated contractions of our facial muscles over time causes creases and lines, known as dynamic wrinkles.
Selectively relaxing these muscles results in smoother skin and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
During your consultation, our skilled registered nurse (with advanced injection certificate and 10+ years experience with Botox injections) will discuss your concern areas and review options to meet your aesthetic goals

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Botox?
Botox is a purified protein that blocks nerve impulses to tiny facial muscles responsible for wrinkles.
Following Botox injection the muscles relax and wrinkles fade away.
Treated areas remain smooth and untreated facial muscles are able to contract normally. This results in facial expressions remaining intact and gives a natural look vs the “frozen” look (often with inexperienced injectors and poorly targeted injections)

When can you expect results/How long does treatment last?
Takes about 7-10 days for an effect and results last 3-4 months. Skin returns to baseline if treatment not continued.
Is it safe? What are the side effects?
Yes, the nurse has been injecting Botox for over a decade with no major issues.
Possible side effects, which typically resolve within a week if they occur, include:
- Redness
- Mild soreness
- Bruising (which can be treated with Arnica)
- Mild swelling at the injection site
- 24-48 hour headache
- Temporary muscle weakness in the treated area
In rare cases the medication can effect adjacent muscles and cause temporary unwanted muscle weakening.
Does it hurt?
A thin 31G needle is used. Most don’t feel anything.
Numbing agent is available on request.
Nurse is trained in dealing with needle phobia
Is there any aftercare?
Aftercare includes not rubbing or massaging the treatment area. Avoid strenuous exercise, blood thinning medications (NSAIDs) and alcohol. Keep your head upright for a few hours following treatment
How much does it cost?
Aesthetic: $9/unit (Edmonton market rate is ~$10/unit)
Medical: Direct billing available for cost of Botox Medical & Dysport Therapeutic. $150 injection fee
Given variability in amount needed to be injected we charge per unit. This avoids charging high amounts to patients who don’t require many units.
Who is not a good candidate for neuromodulators?
There are a lack of studies done in pregnant women so is not recommended in this population. Also not recommended if there has been a previous allergic reaction to either Botox or Dysport
What is Dysport?
Dysport is a newer neuromodulator that has the same mechanism of action as Botox
